In 1985, a group of 19 women who had an interest in quilting and a desire to meet with others who shared similar interests founded the Gold Coast Quilter’s Guild. Today, with a membership of 200, the focus on quilting and the community continues to grow.
Serving our local community is an integral part of our quilting lives. Through our Quilts for Caringand Pillow Pals programs, wedistribute quilts and soft pillow pal dolls to children and adults who are in need of comfort and warmth in our community. We honor our veterans through our Quilts of Valor committee and the distribution of quilts to the Veteran’s Administration in South Florida.
Through the sponsorship and participation in quilt exhibits throughout the area, we educate others on quilting - both traditional and art quilt forms. Our recent exhibits include the Rosen Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida, the Mancuso World Quilt Florida in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the Sample-McDougald House in Pompano Beach.
From our committees (mystery quilt, orphan blocks, block of the month, donation quilts, tag sale, bake sale, auction, Care 2 Share) to our Quilt Bees, Library, Quilt Camp and Quilt Retreat, the ideals established 30 years ago by 19 women continue to grow and expand at the Gold Coast Quilter’s Guild.
To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, Charlotte Noll made this quilt showing all of our different facets. If you wish to see the full quilt please visit this photo gallery.
We hope that you'll take the time to learn more about our group and the art of quilting!
Membership dues are $50 per year. There is currently a waiting list for membership, but guests are welcome to attend during the summer months (May through September) with a $5 donation.
