Broward Quilt Expo

Every two years, six quilt guilds in Broward County, Florida, come together to present the Broward Quilt Expo (BQE). It is one of the most exciting and expansive quilt shows in South Florida, and takes place in sunny Fort Lauderdale.

In 2019, our show event is being expanded to cover an entire week!

  • Monday March 4th : Miniature Quilt Auction (evening, free event) at Artserve
  • Tuesday through Thursday, March 5th to 7th : Workshops at Artserve
  • Friday March 8th : Awards Gala at Artserve (evening, ticketed)
  • Saturday and Sunday, March 9th & 10th : Quilt Show and Marketplace  at the War Memorial Auditorium.

Over these seven days, thousands of viewers will join us to celebrate the uniquely American art form of quilting.  Whether you want to look at beautiful examples of traditional, modern, or art quilts, if you'd like to buy a quilt, learn how to quilt, attend a lecture, or shop for supplies, BQE has it all!

And BQE is not just for quilters!  In 2019 we will also be welcoming the entire community with many new activities.

  • Children's activities.
  • Art Challenge for non-quilters!
  • Lounge and relaxation station.
  • Food trucks.
  • Community events before quilt week.
  • Family tickets.
  • Much more to be announced!

QOV Workshop

If you signed up and aren’t attending let Susan know. If you didn’t sign up and want to join us, call Susan. If you are coming but need something to sew, call Susan. If you are coming, bring food to share for lunch and an extension cord.

At the workshop you will receive fabric to use as backing. It will need to be seamed. After the top is finished and the backing prepared, return them at a meeting. A volunteer longarmer will quilt your quilt and then it will be returned to you for binding and washing. You will need to make a presentation case (pillowcase). If you need help with any of the steps, ask Susan, Dellie or Marlys. Thank you to all who help honor our veterans.

For more information on the program, visit the Gold Coast Quilters’s Guild QOV website.
