Program: Show Me Your Pincushions

It was in the Middle Ages when pincushions first ap- peared. We all have our favorites, whether it’s mag- netic or one that has special memories. Raine Cavallo will give us some history of the pincushion.

As part of the December program, there will be a contest for pincushions. A prize will be awarded to a pincushion owner in each category. You may enter ONE pincushion in each category: ANIMAL, FLOWER, VINTAGE, SMALLEST, and LARGEST.

Sign up in each category and receive a number for your entry. Pincushions will be displayed by category, view all entries during the break, and voting will take place after the break.

Fat Quarter theme: Melody Makers (music/musical notes, instruments)

Guests are welcome to attend during the summer months for a $5 donation, or $10 if there is a speaker.

Doors open at 6:30

Jan Krentz: One Block Wonder

Jan Krentz is best known for her work in 8-pointed Lone Stars and related patterns. This workshop features Jan’s decades-long quilt making expertise and clever construction techniques for the popular stack-cut “One Block Wonder” and “Stack ‘n’ Whack” quilts.

he quilt above was created by layering six identical 24” repeats of one printed fabric (Harajuku Lady by Alexander Henry), cutting through all the layers to create identical stacks of equilateral 60⁰ triangles. A second fabric was used to create a narrow black fabric trim embellishment border to separate the pieced center from the (3rd fabric) outside border. Jan will also teach her 4-patch Stack n' Whack technique shown in the Park Landscape photo below. A technique using panels which are cut and then blended together.
