Patty Trevarthan was a founding member of the guild and our first president. She recently passed away and many donations were made in her name and her family asked that the money remain local. It was decided that the funds would be used to teach children how to sew. The student's finished quilts will be donated to a homeless child in the local area. Our tentative plan is to have a series of four classes in which the student will learn how to operate a sewing machine and learn the basics of piecing and assembling a quilt top. The committe also applied to the NQA for a grant to supplement the donations and was awarded a grant for an additional $2000.
